Obama’s latest victory speech. Another great speech, this time however he fights back a little. This speech also has more message then the other speeches.
Thanks Talb. I seriously can not get over how impressive he is! I get goosebumps and my eyes well up every time he speaks. That’s not something that just happens to me.. I get a feeling in my heart, that he’s the right person. I’ve never felt that way about a political person before. I know that change is coming, it’s so close. We are so close.
In other news, it’s kinda sad we didn’t get to see a Stephen Colbert fighting with the rest of them in SC today. Oh well.
P.S. There is never a time where chanting “USA, USA, USA” is cool.
I watched the entire clip… I’ve been around enough to see quite a few Presidential campaigns and I’ll say this - Obama is a hell of an orator. This section of his speech was particularly striking:
“What we’ve seen in these last weeks is that we’re also up against forces that are not the fault of any one campaign, but feed the habits that prevent us from being who we want to be as a nation. It’s the politics that uses religion as a wedge, and patriotism as a bludgeon. A politics that tells us that we have to think, act, and even vote within the confines of the categories that supposedly define us. The assumption that young people are apathetic. The assumption that Republicans won’t cross over. The assumption that the wealthy care nothing for the poor, and that the poor don’t vote. The assumption that African Americans can’t support the White candidate, Whites can’t support the African American candidate, Blacks and Latinos cannot come together. We are here tonight to say that that is not the America we believe in.”
I think that his ability to word common frustrations in such a fluent manner is sure to sink Hillary’s campaign. It’s the same oratorical skill that sunk Bill Clinton’s foes in ‘92 - feel the irony.
I think Obama is an extremely strong candidate. I don’t know if he’ll be able to maintain and grow on the victories he’s getting along the way, but that’s the fun of following campaigns.
I certainly don’t mean this in anything but the most complimentary fashion, but his delivery really reminds me of the civil rights leaders of the 60’s. Not because of his race, but based on his oratory style. Listen to how the audience, which is racially diverse, addresses him during this speech and tell me I’m wrong.
The only thing that I hate about the current American political climate is the refusal by mainstream candidates to really, truly, speak their minds about controversial issues. It’s always been the case, so it’s nothing against Obama or Hillary, or even the Republican side of the race. I hate that it’s only the “crazies” that give an honest answer to “fringe” issues. Well, I should take that back… Gravel and Kucinich directly came out in favor of Same-Sex Marriage, while their Democratic counterpart, John Edwards, came out publicly against it. Hillary and Obama, however, were both equally wavering about it, which is what I hate really.
Anyway, It’s an interesting race now, which I what I was hoping to see…
