I took this while visiting some good friends this past weekend.  It’s the logo for a home remodeling/maintenance company one of them works for - I’d seen it before, but this time it made me take pause.  While it’s not the greatest design, I understand the motive and rationale behind it.  What’s unfortunate however, is that it’s all too reminiscent of Goatse… c’mon, you see it (don’t search for it if you haven’t!)I took this while visiting some good friends this past weekend.  It’s the logo for a home remodeling/maintenance company one of them works for - I’d seen it before, but this time it made me take pause.  While it’s not the greatest design, I understand the motive and rationale behind it.  What’s unfortunate however, is that it’s all too reminiscent of Goatse… c’mon, you see it (don’t search for it if you haven’t!)

I watched The Silence of the Lambs for the first time in a long time tonight.  I knew Buffalo Bill seemed familiar, and realized for the first time that it’s the same actor, Ted Lavine, that plays Captain Leland Stottlemeyer on Monk.I watched The Silence of the Lambs for the first time in a long time tonight.  I knew Buffalo Bill seemed familiar, and realized for the first time that it’s the same actor, Ted Lavine, that plays Captain Leland Stottlemeyer on Monk.

Allan Teger - BODYSCAPES
A while back I went into a funky resale shop in the small town I live in called, appropriately enough, I Love Funky’s.  There was a bin with a bunch of prints for sale, and as I was paging through them I came upon some stuff by Allan Teger.  I’d never seen his work before, and in my shopping haze I’d flipped through about five prints before realizing what was going on.
They’re interesting to say the least - not sure why, but the pubic hair themed ones have to be my favorite.

A social experiment... I hope this works!

andrklein:

I’m curious about what people pay for electricity. The genesis of my curiosity comes from my neighbor who runs his AC nearly all the time in the Spring/Summer/Fall. About a year ago his bill came with mine in the mail and I saw that he pays almost four times what I pay. Also, I’m moving to Dallas, TX next month and I’m wondering if what I pay on average per month is indicative of other places in the country (or world).

So, I live in Ann Arbor, MI in a one bedroom apartment. I pay $20 per month on average from DTE Energy. If you feel like contributing to this experiment, reblog this post and add your information. Thanks.

Sure, I’ll help out.

I live in Fort Atkinson, WI in a three bedroom house.  I run the air conditioning at 70 degrees during the Summer non-stop when the temperature is above 80 degrees outside, because the humidity is stifling and there’s no good cross breeze. In the Winter, I keep the heat set to 70-72 degrees depending on how cold it is outside.  The house I’m in has old school storm windows and is not insulated very well, so when it gets down in the single digits I have to crank it up a bit more to keep it bearable.

My utility company is We Energies, and my bill covers Gas & Electric combined.  I’ve been paying 120.00/mo. on average the last few months, and in general I have a little break in the late Spring and early Fall when I can have the windows open and not run the HVAC.

That said, energy prices are completely unpredictable, and rise and fall like crazy.  The best part?  You just have to bend over and take it because there’s no competition.  For example, see the graph below - I needed a lot of KY in February of this year when energy prices spiked.  I like to see it as Jan - March of this year giving me the finger:

Good luck with the experiment.

Slandr.net | a nice way to chat -

Being a BlackBerry user on BES, I have very few (decent) options for using Twitter on my phone.  Twitterberry is alright, but I hate that it truncates messages so that you have to actually open each one to read it completely.  TinyTwitter is alright too, but just felt like it was unpolished.  Any other BlackBerry specific or J2ME apps out there just didn’t work at all, or were too buggy to use in my corporate phone world.

I’d been checking updates via the Twitter Mobile site on my mobile browser (BB Browser and Opera Mini) and while it’s decent for getting an overview, there is just so much missing.  Things like an easy way to send a direct message to simple shit like viewing avatars.

I’ve been using Slandr (gotta love the intarwebs 2.0 name) lately to view via my mobile browser, and it’s actually been pretty decent.  Anyone have recommendations for Twitter usage on a BlackBerry/Java 2.0 enabled phone?  You have Twitterrific on your iPhone and love it?  Good, keep it to yourself!

Is it just me, or is the Seesmic community creepy as all hell?

Nope, not just you.  I got in the private beta, poked around a bit, and got the hell outta there.  Quick.

Kinda like when you walk into a random bar and order a drink fast, then stop for a second to look around at what is a room full of people you’d call the police on if they were within 100’ of your house.  Creepy as all hell?  Creepy as all fuck!

Evidence of such:
